A demonstration of how to get the entire VRC6 sawtooth volume range from 0x00 to 0x1F.

Instruments 00-01 come from hex edited volume envelopes so that the envelopes actually have the correct volumes without using the duty envelope. (That is inaccurate; the volume is multiplied by 2 in FamiTracker so half of the sawtooth volumes cannot be reached) Values higher than F are NOT entirely clipped to F; I will explain that in a separate thread.

Instruments 02-03 utilize both the volume envelope and the duty envelope, and is naturally the common method most people would prefer to use.

After I tried to hex edit the envelope strings I am surprised that they have been implemented, and this is turn gives rise to a feature request. Discuss.

Remember, though, that sawtooth instruments of the first kind are unsupported in the current NSF engine; stay with duty envelopes in case you want an NSF. Depending on jsr's wish to keep FamiTracker simple, updates to adapt these volume envelopes are quite unlikely.

The instrument names sound delicious! But really though, good demo! Shows good usage of the sawtooth wave.

I wonder if either of these guys realize you can't normally surpass 15.

DOESN'T IT KILL YOU TO KNOW THAT YOU ARE ONLY GETTING VALUES UP TO 62? CAN YOU IMAGINE WHAT YOU'RE MISSING OUT FROM 63???

Yes.

All channels have the same mechanics when dealing with out-of-range envelope volumes, and I will come back and explain it tomorrow, okay?

I don't get it. Is this a tutorial for people who never read the wiki and knew that for vol > 15, use duty cycle {odd number}

That would be me; I actually missed that info the last time I read the wiki. Either way, it's still a good demo module to learn from.
