So, here's my first famitracker effort. Okay, so it may be sloppy for some of you guys - I know there's something of the composer ethic trotting about these hallways, but y'know, if I was a painter I'd be one of those painters who likes to slosh about and use bright colours. Anyway, criticism is welcome. Enjoyment is also welcome

I think this would be good for tetris... Really uses fancy effects
There's some discord here and there, but This is a fantastic piece for your first time!

Haha, thanks yucca - you've just paired my first attempt at famitracker with one of the most iconic (and one of my favourite) Nintendo OST pieces ever! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NmCCQxVBfyM
As for the discord, well, some of it at least is intended. I really love old "rude" reggae, and one of the things that really brings that to life is a small amount of discord. For a start, the musicians will add raucous notes, often on the upbeat. At times this is to suggest perverse sexual motion (!) Secondly, the musicians, singers will be enjoying what they're doing so much that they don't notice that they're not hitting the "right" note. When you can hear this happening, this actually pretty magical and liberating. Thirdly, A lot of the musicians were poor, and their instruments were old and beaten up, and their strings hadn't been changed in a decade, creating a very organic and approximate sound.
So, how to reproduce that feel in computer music? Well, I attempt it - one of the ways I try is my attitude, a little bit of "letting things land where they fall", Also, I select raucous notes at times, play them a little too loudly, and for a little too long. They're usually my favourite parts of my music!
Aside from that, of course, you're right - I have a lot to learn, and I hope only to get better! Thanks for your input and compliments, and I'm glad you enjoyed it!
Thanks! I'm sure that's not true... keep at it. I just started with famitracker, but I've been composing one way or another for years, so I guess that gives me a head-start. If you want any advice about anything (non technical) let me know, I'll see if I can help out!
I take it you're talking to me Tech, but I don't know what you mean by "triple-posting"... am I in breach of some forum etiquette of which I'm not aware?

triple posting would be posting three times in a row with no other person's posts in between, but I don't see that happening here...maybe it got edited already
I think he means editing older post to respond to questions. idk, just an idea.
