Hey, It's me again, and I'm here bringing you THIS song, a semi-complete loop. It's not in the short loop thread because I have been working on it for a while. anyway, here is the FTM!

Ahh, very nice! Would work well as a title screen theme, I think.

Yeah, that was my thought, too!
I think I'm gonna make one with a lot more, how do I describe it, bounce? anyway, a version with more bounce as a level or something.

EDIT: As a matter of fact, here is a little short no-where-near-complete of my level music idea!

Here. I toyed with some of the volumes, which would've been my main technical complaint anyway, see if that gives you any ideas.

Aside from that, take note of how your favorite songs make sounds, apply the idea, practice until it sounds awesome. You're doing pretty well so far, though.

Edited for redundancy.

I think it's amazing that that version sound so much different, yet all that was changed is volume. Still, though. I am not the best at volumes yet, which is pretty crucial. Thanks for the version, I will try to Learn from it.

just_a_test.ftm is pretty cool, you could improve the triangle by having a bit more variety and not just quarter notes

Oops, my bad. I forgot to mention I changed the note cuts in the square 1 and triangle channels, and changed the instrument on some of the triangle too. Notice the difference in frame 01's triangle in comparison to the rest.

But yeah, keep it up man, and take example from the people you see here. The more you pick up from reading other ftm's, the easier it'll come to you.

Yeah, that would help. I think I'll try that.

Yeah, while studying it, I saw that. Still, I'll try to learn from it!

Eletious, I don't mind at all. Just make sure to keep the melody generally the same.

EDIT:By the way, here is the newest versions of both!

level_1

needs better noise, that's for sure. also i think triangle is an octave too high. it sounds better with lower notes. the rest is too repetitive but i guess this is the way it meant to be

just_a_test

this one is somewhat better, melody is actually more interesting. triangle is once again - too high. aand... it's in the same key as level_1. and I think these channels are coming up after each other a little bit too late... transitions may be a good thing to fix this

so, these aren't that bad, these just beg to make them finished and improve them a bit, you know what i mean

EDIT:

so now its title_screen

now, bass is just ruined. there, i did something to the earlier version. i know you want it sound more NESsy, but i did the kick in triangle anyway.

level 1 is a bit better now.

oh, and one thing i noticed - try to use duty modulation. you only use V00.

Yes, it needs better noise... I was thinking of doing all DPCM, but I don't know. The triangle isn't meant completely as bass, that's why I kept it on such a high octave. It's just affects the pitch, at least to my ears, better on a higher octave. that was it's primary purpose. As for the repetitive-ness of the song, I meant for it to sound like that.
As far as the keys on both, I like to make my songs the same key(generally)when they are related in any way, and, in this case, an OST for a video game. On title_screen, I was just releasing a bass-test into the wild so I might be able to get a better ear for bass. right now, I am not good on bass. Duty modulation? well, to be honest, I didn't know about is until that post, so thank you for informing me on it. other than that, I just think that, with a lot of work, these can make a good sound track for my indie games. Ciao!

EDIT:Bass test, anyone?

" I am not good on bass "

Well, I like it, but not as much. But hey, like I said, Don't have much of an ear for good bass. It's purpose is to just slightly alter the pitch on the square on that song. But it hardly works, so I guess I should find another way to do so.
