It's a very eerie tune... An interesting choice of note flow & tempo variation that brings a dark, almost nostalgic mood to the listener. I wouldn't necessarily use it in a dungeon setting for an RPG, but for a cut scene or for a more different setting that suits the mood.

@jrlepage

Awh! Cheers dude, this is awesome! =D

@TechEmporium

Thanks man, glad you appreciate the mood. I studied a few nsf's that all used the same, classic echoey dungeon instrumentation on certain tracks. Of course, the original Zelda dungeon music being included in those.

Gotta love RainWarrior's nsf import, any nsf turns into a playground. I finally realized the potential of the program with the whole 'instrument substitute and export' tactic.

haha, you mean super awkward :P I was plugging away for hours and hours trying to get those Zxx and Fxx effects to sound just right, but I ended up falling into a overly biased listening trap with the composition. That's probably a large part as to why it strayed so far from a dungeon crawling feel as well.

Should have taken a break and listened again with fresh ears before submitting. I can totally hear the awkward flow now that I slept on it. Doh!

I don't think this sounds awkward at all, I quite like it a lot.

@gyms I dig it man, but I know what you're saying. It takes some practice (or perhaps direct analysis of a human performance) to successfully mimic a non-metronomic classical feel in a tracker environment.
