Still playing around with the N163 and getting used to it. This is the first cover that I actually put effort into with this expansion, though I still feel like it could use some work...
Always be careful with N163 echoes with modifying sound waves! If they use the same memory slot, both the lead and echo will end up changing its waveform whenever a note is encountered in either the lead or the echo track.
Take a look at this attachment. Echo channel muted for conspicuity, the notes are indeed played.
Also the orchestra hit samples are quite poor. Did you use FamiTracker's internal converter?
Thanks, I'll have a look at that and fix it up a bit. Also no, the Hit samples were converted with Rushjet's converter of course. They aren't bad, but Famitracker doesn't seem to export the DPCM channel when exporting to NSF, and we all know FT's DPCM volume levels aren't loud.
Edit: Lol I tried to fix that echo by trying many things. Including instruments with smaller waveforms but a different memory space, but everything else sounds worse, so for now I'm just going to leave it alone.
You could just have a new instrument with just the last waveform of the lead instrument, put it in the same memory space. That would be a good compromise because you don't hear the waveform change in the echo anyway.
Very awesome Raijin!!! I had no idea there was a TMNT on Genesis. Might have to check out that OST. Great work!
Hyperstone Heist is the game you'll look for. Excelent game - it's like a port of Turtles in Time to the Mega Drive except it adds its own spin to it. Uses mostly music from Turtles in Time, too, and it's real accurate to the original Arcade version compared to the SNES version, if only for the fact it uses FM instead of the SPC700, hehe.
Thanks you guys. Also Fezuke, about the OST, it is as DalekSam says. Most of the OST is the same as the Arcade and SNES with a few new tracks. Some of the music sounds better too on the Genesis than the SNES or the Arcade version.
