I'm pretty new with using famitracker, and creating chiptunes but this is by far one of the most interesting songs i've heard in my few weeks of exploring the forums. Can't wait to hear more stuff =]

Quick question. You have the A00 effect in the first two square channels in the first frame of this fantastic song. It was my understanding that A00 basically means that there is no volume change at all, so why have them there in the first place? I'm pretty new to famitracker if you couldn't tell =P

If you have an Axx effect in the last frame & want to negate it when it loops back, that's a good time to use an A00 in frame 00. Otherwise, if you don't, your volume will change to something other than what you want for that frame.
By the way, Bradley, I can't believe I've missed this tune; it's pretty good.

@Bradley. Great song!! Can tell you've been doing this for a while. Do you find that it's easier to use minimal instruments, and just mess with the effects? Or was this just something that you chose to do for this particular song?

I've always found that fewer instruments are more versatile than many. Also, I did mess with the effects quite a bit in this song, and it is outside of my usual style.

My "style" consists of 4/4 time measures, usually with a few frames in the original key of the song, followed by two frames in a different key, yet still corresponding with the original key (such as A-A-F-F). I'm not fluent at all in any musical language, so you're gonna have to bear with me. :P
Also, I use chords frequently, such as in my "I Might Try to Monetize This" or "What is This" chiptunes. For a while, I've tried to incorporate 3/4 measures into my music, but have really stayed in 4/4 for most of the time.

I really like the style and mood of all the songs you create. It's interesting seeing stuff with very minimal instruments but lots of effect manipulation to create all the different sounds. Seems like it would be more efficient then trying to make 50 instruments and naming them things like "bleep" and "bloop" lol. Keep it up man, can't wait to hear more. As my knowledge grows i'll probably feel more confident with posting some of my stuff one day =]

If you really want to learn more about the program, I suggest you do covers of some songs before making original content. I didn't really do that, which is why is took a while before my work got up to the level it is today. I recommend some easier songs to create, such as the Super Mario Bros. theme, or maybe an early Mega Man tune.

So do you mean I should go on youtube and find these songs, and just try and copy them by ear? or is there a way to view them in famitracker, or some other program?

I'd look them up on YouTube or download them to check if you're as close to the source material as possible. Also, check out 8bitdanooct1's tutorial on it.
