I recently discovered this game and I could not find any covers of the music from it on the forums, so I decided to start working on something. Unfortunately certain parts of the second song in the FTM are really starting to get on my nerves :P
Anyways, I just wanted to show where I've gotten so far and I'll update this thread and work on it more depending on whether or not anyone thinks this project is worth it
I've also included the original SPCs for reference.
If anyone else would like to contribute, Feel free to as well
I have not done other covers yet, but WAS planning to at one point. This is probably my favorite RPG of all time, and I must have played it 1 million times. I know the whole soundtrack by heart and am willing to contribute if needed. Some stuff might be hard to pull off, but with a soundtrack this good, there probably will be more people joining in on this......
I'm surprised you JUST discovered this game. It's one of those Classics everyone I know played. Unless you are very young and played it on DS.

well, unfortunately for me I was born just after the release of this game and I've only recently started looking at all the classics. To be honest I'm starting to regret buying an xbox, I should have gotten an snes instead .
I couldn't agree more that Chrono Trigger is one of the best RPGs I've ever played. Needless to say I'm addicted :P
As for the covers, I'm really glad that someone showed interest. The music in this game is absolutely astounding.
I do not mean to correct your work, but like I said, I know these songs in and out. On 'Morning Sunrise' You had all the notes down pretty good, but the Octaves you used were too low. I fixed this on Square 1 and the Sawtooth. Sounds much more like it now.
Edit: Oh and I also changed the instrument for Square 1 to use a fat wave.

Yeah, that does sound alot better.
I've figured out how to isolate sound channels in SNESAmp now, so hopefully that will make it easier to get the right notes down in the tracker for "To Far Away Times".
Oh man, how did I miss this thread? I just ordered a copy of it for my DS; I can't wait to start playing it through again.
I've been working on a Chrono Trigger VRC6 OST for a while now. Well, I say 'working', I haven't 'worked' on it properly for months. I think I'm going to edit this post and drop some of what I've got so far here, including one or two bits that danooct1 did and the Sewer cover that rainwarrior was referring to (by Icesoldier). I'm sure they won't mind me putting them here.
EDIT There they are. Some of them are really old. 'Battle 1' and the Lavos thing are WIPs. I've got other WIPs but I won't post them here as I'll probably redo them entirely. In fact, some of these are so old I'll probably end up redoing them anyway. 'A Prayer to the Road that Leads' and 'Boss Battle 2' were done by Dan and the Sewer theme (as I've already said) is Icesoldier's.
... we could totally band together and finish the OST between us if anyone here is interested.
Oh man, you guys are way ahead of me :P
Well, I'm glad no one has done a cover of the ending theme, then.
I'd certainly be interested in helping finish this OST. There's WAY more progress than I originally thought
Oh, and out of curiosity, did you rip the original drum samples from the game for the DPCM in your covers, psn? They sound quite similar.

Yeah, I just split the channels and recorded the samples as wavs. On that note, that's also why we've done this across individual ftms. There are a few too many samples to use for the whole OST without breaking the 16KB limit.
