My hardest cover yet, I must say...

But I'm confident I've done it right :D

Ultimate win. Can't point out any inaccuracies (if there are any). Great work!

I have to wonder how you know which notes should be fine pitched, and which samples need which Zxx command. Did you load the nsf in nsfimport before starting this?
or I'm guessing you looked at pitch tables or something, wherever those are available.

I think it's safe to assume the importer was used for any of those superaccurate covers until it is mentioned otherwise.

Wow, nice job there. The cover's very accurate, and it brings back memories of blasting through the Galuga.

The use of Pxx to "correct" the pitch table is a pretty strong sign that NSF import was used for reference at some point. That not something you'd do by ear.

No, I meant what I said.

There's a point where the human ear can't distinguish a fine difference in pitch from isolated tones.

To get accuracy you'd need to slow playback down enough to get long tones you can compare to your playing test tone. This isn't really what I'd call "by ear" though. You'd be using your ear, but you're listening for beating, not the actual pitch of the tone.

Another way to do it is by finding the game's pitch table in the ROM, and comparing it to FamiTracker's analytically.

Or you can just use NSF import.

Anyhow, fine cover.

This brings up a question I've had for a while... Exactly how many cents does each increment of the Pxx command change the pitch by?
....aaaand I just ended that sentence with a preposition... whatever. :D

It varies from one note to the next. Basically, the higher the note, the more it is affected by fine pitch (i.e. the less 'fine' it becomes).

I fail to see any difficulty in simply recreating envelopes and other stuff from NSF Importer. Tedious, maybe, but definitely not hard.

Same could be said for any other cover, but most of those require experience and an ear for what you're doing, and not just the ability to read data output from an NSF.

edit: despite that, good job. nicetas would be proud if he wasn't such a faggot.

Homophobic remarks aside, he would still be proud. I love this song and it sounds great here.
