Hey everybody! I'm trying to get back into FamiTracker (got an unfinished original album of sorts in the works) and want to get some critique on a Final Fantasy VI cover of mine that I never posted here but entered into a Famicompo last year.
I know I have a great deal to learn and a personal style to explore, but hey- practice makes perfect right?

In addition to the aforementioned FFVI cover I have also included a prototype of a boss theme from my future album for scrutiny. This song is not meant to include any expansions and lacks DPCM right now.

Please enjoy and leave a comment or two.

The FFVI cover had some timing issues (particularly in frame 0) and a few wrong notes here and there. Other than that, nice work.

Vile Intent sounds good to me, no real problems there. It doesn't seem intense enough for a boss theme, though. Maybe it would work better in the area before the boss fight?

In any case, you're doing well so far; keep tracking!

I now see that it does have those timing issues, and I have no idea how to iron them out for the life of me! The wrong notes seem to exist in the original but are part of a larger chord structure that I cannot emulate without using expansion channels (I don't feel up to that challenge yet )
That being said there are plenty of things I need to work on, and thank you for bringing them up.

Vile Intent is meant to be a slower, menacing song like this one:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LFB0AoS_-NQ&feature=related
In fact the whole album is Castlevania-inspired.

Ohhh, right, right. Well, as far as Castlevania style goes, you've pretty much nailed it.
