Hi all, I know this has been posted before, but I'm merely posting this to introduce myself to the forum and for some feedback. I'm sure you guys are a lot better at this than I am, and I'm just starting out. Not sure why I chose this as my first Famitracker song, other than the fact that it's a great song and that it sounds great in 8-bit also. I stuck with basic squares for this song, but I have a wide variety of instruments. If you could listen and give me constructive criticism to help me improve, that would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

For some reason, that didn't work yesterday for me...it's on there now, though.

It's basic, but it works. Looks like you've got the music on your side. Now you need to learn to work with a tracker (proper pattern separation, volume envelope definition, putting all channels to use, working with different duty cycles, and so on). Keep working on it!

Wow thanks for showing me this tune. I'd never heard it before. I hear allusions to the overworld theme in the original LoZ, as well as the overworld to Twilight Princess.

I did some quick little tweaks to it.

I could totally hear this on a VRC7...

As a matter of fact, I'm going to do that now. BRB, making the song better, as well as showing the possibilities in the world of chiptune.

EDIT: Nevermind, I tried it. None of the patches sounded right for the mood of the song. It's still really good, but basic.

Thanks! I kept it basic because, well, it's my first song and I wasn't trying to over-do it. tadpole, I like the echo effect, I'll have to keep that in mind for future songs. Once I get the hang of this, I'll probably experiment with more instruments.

Same as what I tried to do, but alas, no luck.

Then again, I have only been using FT since January, so meh.

Your custom instrument is transposing the piano part up 7 semitones.

So, would Pxx fix this?

Also, noticed you had different arps on frame 04

No, not Pxx. Highlight all the arp notes and push CTRL+F1 7 times on each pattern, and it fixes it. Or simply adjust your Mult. factors in the VRC7 instrument until it is playing the correct notes.

The different arps on frame 04 - I just changed the chords a bit so it would fit the original LoZ melody. The song doesn't really go that way.
